India’s top 10 universities — IISc rules the roost

The Times Higher Education ranking includes more than 1,600 universities across 99 counties.

Rankings are given on the basis of teaching, research, knowledge transfer and international outlook

Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru

World Ranking — 301-350 | IISc is one of the top rated institutes in India known for its science courses and research. The institute is home to more than 75 scholars who have won Shanti Swaroop Bhatnagar prize for science and technology.

Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Ropar

World Ranking — 351-400 | The institute, which was established in 2008, is known for its top class laboratories as it is one of the eight newer IITs established recently.

JSS Academy of Higher Education and Research

World Ranking — 351-400 | Jagadguru Sri Shivarathreeshwara (JSS) Academy, which is located in Mysore recently partnered with WHO Global Vaccine programme to spread awareness about COVID-19 vaccine safety.

Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Indore

World Ranking — 401-500 | It is one of the newer IITs established by the Government of India in 2009. Research done by IIT students of Indore have always been recognised at national as well as international level.

Alagappa University

World Ranking — 501-600 | Located in the Karaikudi town of Tamil Nadu, Alagappa university is known for its student exchange programmes. So far the university has organised 41 student exchange programmes.

Thapar University

World Ranking — 501-600 | The privately owned university, located in Patiala, is not only known for its science courses, but also has a track record of helping its students with good placements. In 2020, nearly 970 students were placed with the help of the university.

Banaras Hindu University (BHU)

World Ranking — 601-800 | Formerly known as Central Hindu college, BHU is the largest residential university in Asia. BHU has produced famous alumni like Robert M. Pirsig, author of the famous book Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance, and scientist Shanti Swaroop Bhatnagar.

Institute of Chemical Technology (ICT)

世界排名- 601 - 800 |这是最古老的之一institutes in Mumbai for chemistry and technology. ICT has three centres located in Bhubaneswar, Marathwada with its main campus in Mumbai.

Delhi Technological University

World Ranking — 601-800 | Delhi’s first engineering college was also ranked 71 in the National Institutional Ratings Framework in 2019. The college also aims to raise the number of startups produced by its Technical Business Incubator from 19 to 100.

Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Gandhinagar

World Ranking — 601-800 | The public research university is also one of the newly established IITs. It is also the only university from Gujarat to be ranked among top 1000 universities in the world.

According to media reports, seven IITs decided to boycott the Times Higher Education ranking...

...as the ranking did not include any IITs in the top 300 last year.
